Visited the South London Gallery this weekend to contribute to Michael Landy’s Art Bin. Landy invited artists to donate their artistic failures to his art bin during Feb and March. I donated a failed painting on paper (pic below)
The bin was such an impressive work, it really needs to be visited to see it in its full glory, I was really taken with the scale of the perspex skip – a beautiful object in its own right that engulfed the gallery space. Climbing up the staircase was pretty exciting, a view point only allowed to those contributing to the project. Watching as the A1 piece of paper flutter through the air was really rather beautiful, and it destroyed any cynicism over Landy’s project.
